Hannah Scruggs
James Madison's Montpelier
Research Associate for the Descendants' Project
Hannah Scruggs is a native central Virginian and 2013 graduate of The College of William & Mary with a BA in history. Following her time in Williamsburg she served in AmeriCorps at the Braddock Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh, PA, before returning south to earn her MA in Public History with a focus on African American history from NC State University in 2017. Hannah has been working at James Madison's Montpelier since 2017 as a Research Associate for the Descendants' Project, and began working at the National Museum of African American History and Culture as a Generology Reference Assistant in 2018. She currently splits her time between Washington, D.C. and her native Central Virginia.
