Anton Korinek

Associate Professor
Anton Korinek is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. His current research focuses on the implications of rapid progress in Artificial Intelligence for inequality, work, and for the future of humanity. Anton studied economics, math and law at the University of Vienna and worked for several years at the intersection of IT and financial markets, playing with neural networks long before it was fashionable. He earned his PhD in economics from Columbia University in 2007, and he has since worked on questions of financial stability and inequality. Anton held positions at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University and is a Research Associate at the NBER. He was a visiting scholar at Harvard University, the Bank for International Settlements, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, as well as a frequent visitor and advisor to central banks and regulatory agencies, where he has given lectures and courses.
