Join PEC for a talk from one of the world's leading experts on alternative forms of transportation.
Peter Newman, Professor of Sustainability at Curtain University in Perth, Australia, will discuss Trackless Trams.
What are Trackless Trams? These systems combine autonomous technology from High Speed Rail with batteries and rail-type axles to transform a bus into a new kind of Tram. It is like light rail, but costs less and does not disrupt local economies when digging up streets for rails. Trackless Trams can enable urban regeneration around stations and hence can be built using partnerships that bring private financing.
New technologies and opportunities like this are being pursued in cities around the world. We are excited to host Professor Newman to learn more, and explore what these options could mean for cities like Charlottesville.
The talk is free, however RSVPs are requested to help with logistics - please RSVP
