Over the course of 90 minutes, MIMA Teaching Artists will guide participants through a number of improvisational exercises with the goal of composing a short song by the workshop’s end. The MIMA curriculum does not presume any formal musical training on the part of participants, so there is no need to bring anything but your already-musical bodies.

Caleb Dance, a saxophonist and flautist who lives in Staunton, VA, began teaching with MIMA in 2005 and has served as the Chair of the Board of Trustees since 2014. He has played with jazz combos and bands in New Orleans, New York, and the Shenandoah Valley.
