How can Charlottesville be a 'city in a garden' when city people interact poorly with many who live in the garden, and vice-versa? Attendees will discuss the disconnect between the urban affluence of Charlottesville/its suburbs and rural people and communities. Pop quiz: how many Albemarle County households do not have reliable broadband access? Our tour will meet to walk and talk while exploring issues of our local urban-rural divisions. Following a brief introduction and examples we’ll continue our walk, reflect on issues, and identify some opportunities to stride across this chasm. At least we’ll all leave with some practice building bridges. Please note that this will be a walking tour beginning and terminating at the Block Party at Market Street Park.
