The history of racism is inscribed in the very streets of Charlottesville. This walking tour with Professor Louis Nelson traces the history of that racism from the construction of the University of Virginia in the early nineteenth century through the oppressive regime of the early twentieth century shaped most profoundly by Eugenics, through to the various practices of racial mockery that shapes our social practices to the present.
