Part of the Community Workshop Series
Got a great idea? Confident you can change the world? Before you dive in, there are some things to know and a proven approach to follow to improve your chances of success. The reality is that most startups that fail do so for surprisingly simple reasons. Join Bob Smith, Director of Virginia's Innovation Commercialization Assistance Program (ICAP) to learn the Five Things investors look for in a startup, and the proven method to developing a winning business model and a path to market. ICAP runs free Lean Startup-based programs throughout the commonwealth in partnership with a network of university and community accelerators. We provide guidance and assistance during the first years of business development: from idea to early sales. In 2018, ICAP helped over 140 aspiring companies position themselves for inclusion in top Virginia accelerators like 757 Accelerate and the RAMP, with many ultimately winning angel investment, non-dilutive government grants and early sales traction. ICAP is on track to serve a even more companies in 2019 through our growing network of partner organizations.
Startups are challenging, fun, and rewarding; if not always financially. ICAP, its instructors, and partners are a great place to begin or refocus your startup journey. Come fine out why.
