As a mural artist for Tom Tom Festival, my contribution is The Charlottesville Intention Tree Project, an invitation to engage in collaborative Intentional Creativity in answer to the question “What are you here to cause and create?” This mural provides a place to express an individual’s unique contribution, declare their intention, and be witnessed by adding their words to a blossom or leaf on the tree as a memorable art contribution to the community.

The Charlottesville Intention Tree Mural is a solitary dogwood tree amid a wide-open landscape ready to witness a declaration. The background of the tree is hand painted in silver gray on a deep blue canvas with dogwood blossoms representing the journey of life, branches extending from a center trunk and roots, with spirals likened to Gustov Klimt’s “Tree of Life.”

This is a collaborative community project which allows participants to paint, write, and mark their intentions with what they are here to cause and create in the world. Creators will be able to contribute their words on dogwood blossoms or leaves, pre-cut from heavy paper, to be added to the branches. They may write intentions, prayers, blessings, gratitudes, or words and then adhere them to the mural.

The theme will be focused on how to live connected to each other in ways that are beneficial to our own well-being while being effective and useful to the world.

About the Artist: Shaping my life through Art is living and breathing. When I fill the brush with paint… when I mold the clay, bend the wire, write the words, I am living. Each creative breath brings energy, more ideas, more passion.

I create because I am. Through Intentional Creativity Method®, I access the inner guidance of my Muse, making an alchemical connection to Spirit allowing transformation to be expressed on the canvas.

The process of making Art is so critical to my living fully. Through journey and listening to my Wild Soul and expressing what I hear, see, and feel, I’ve released so much that has held me too close, which kept me safe yet so confined.

I’ve learned that it is not as important that what I create is good, or pleasing, or evocative. The expression itself is the accomplishment… the success, the masterpiece. I must allow the creative to flow, to let go of the result and open the valve through which the message must travel. It is only through me that my unique creative passion can be revealed, as every Wild Soul must allow their unique expression to be released.

The mediums with which I create run the gamut from mixed media to watercolor & acrylic to illustration. Using Intentional Creativity as a tool for coaching as well as teaching others is one of the greatest gifts I can offer to those who are seeking self-expression and guidance from within. To coach, teach, and create is an honor and a privilege with which I can offer my gifts to the world.
